Who said you can’t have gourmet meals on a college student’s budget? A recent and popular movement has come up with a solution: food trucks. The food truck craze has become super apparent, even around the USC Campus. If you ever find yourself walking along Jefferson Street, you’ll know what I am talking about. Food trucks are not new to LA as taco trucks have been around for a long time. Now, there has been a new demand for food on wheels that provide a variety of quality food that is fast and easy to get. In the similar concept of food delivery, the restaurant is making themselves more available to its customers except food trucks bring the excitement of freshly served meals to the table.
In addition, food trucks have given the people of Los Angeles even more of a reason to gather together because of food truck festivals that pop up on a regular basis. For example, every second Thursday of the month the Art walk allows food trucks to take up parking lot spaces in the downtown LA area. Also, another food truck festival that is coming up this next Friday is called First Fridays at Venice beach. Not only do these two events allow you to explore the different food trucks but will also be displaying art for sale.
What I have found most fascinating about food trucks is the creative designs that each food truck is wrapped in. There is no doubt that the graphics on each truck has impact on potential customers. The creativity that has been created because of this movement is colorful, fun, and reveals how important design can be in the food industry. Design helps to further communicate the art of making gourmet and innovative dishes on the go.
