“Is there an airport nearby, or is that just my heart taking off?”, “If you were a booger, I’d pick you first” and every other pick-up line on the planet will never, ever work when trying to meet a woman. Now, we’ve talked about the Don’ts of a first date, but let’s be realistic: before you date the girl, you have to meet her. So what do you say to that new cute girl in your life that just caught your eye? A pick-up line… right? Wrong! In this day and age, pick-up lines are going out of style faster than Razor scooters on a college campus. The reason a woman will always shoot a guy down for using a pick-up line is because the line makes the guy come across as a tacky loser, desperate for the woman’s attention. Pick-up lines don’t sound genuine, and if you’re not capable of showing you can take yourself seriously, she won’t take you seriously either. It may sound odd, but most women don’t like it when guys keep popping up to ask, “What time do you have to get back to heaven?” Pick-up lines make your intentions obvious and if you let her see that all you want to do is get with her, you’ll be like all those other guys in her life who never got with her.
Now I could go on and give you a step-by-step of what to say and do when you meet a girl – but I won’t do that. The most I can tell you is that when you want to introduce yourself to a girl, you need to do it in a way that shows you’re an original, independent person who is approaching her simply for the fun of meeting someone new and cool. If it’s meant to be, she’ll respond positively and you’ll use your originality and confidence to make the time you spend together enjoyable and engaging. However, there is no bulletproof way to meet a girl and there are a million different variables that can factor into a relationship with her not working out. Sadly, what might work like magic with one girl could crash and burn with the next girl. Just don’t beat yourself up too much if it doesn’t go well. Remember, just because a girl doesn’t respond positively to you, it doesn’t necessarily mean there’s anything wrong with you (hopefully). She might be having a bad day when you introduce yourself to her, she might be waiting for her boyfriend, she might be a superhero too focused on crime fighting to date you. In the end, all you can do is try, and if at first you fail, try and try again. Take what you’ve learned here today and go talk to that girl you’ve had your eye on, and if it doesn’t work at first… go talk to another one.
